On 29 June 2026, I had the pleasure of participating as a panelist at World Industrial Design Day, held at GO Bilişim Vadisi Istanbul and organized by the Industrial Designers' Society of Turkey (ETMK). The event brought together industrial designers, academics, students, and professionals to discuss how industrial design can contribute to creating more resilient and sustainable futures.

As an ETMK Student Representative, I joined the panel titled "Design and Resilient Futures," where we explored the evolving role of industrial design in addressing environmental, social, and technological challenges. The discussion highlighted how designers are increasingly expected to create solutions that balance innovation, functionality, sustainability, and user experience.

One of the most valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity to exchange ideas with experienced designers and fellow students from across the industry. Hearing different perspectives reinforced the importance of collaboration, continuous learning, and human-centred thinking in today's rapidly evolving design landscape.

For me, industrial design is about more than creating products. It is about understanding people, identifying real needs, and developing meaningful solutions that improve everyday life while considering their long-term environmental and social impact. Participating in this panel was an inspiring opportunity to share my perspective while learning from professionals who continue to shape the future of the discipline.

I am grateful to ETMK, GO Bilişim Vadisi Istanbul, the organizers, fellow speakers, and everyone who contributed to making World Industrial Design Day 2026 such a meaningful event. Experiences like this continue to strengthen my passion for industrial design and motivate me to develop innovative, sustainable, and user-focused design solutions.

I see design as a responsibility to people, resources and the places we share. My work supports mindful production, longer product lives and stronger links between materials, users and the everyday experiences shaped through use each day.
